About Narrow Hills Provincial Park

Located in northeastern Saskatchewan, Narrow Hills Provincial Park spans expansive boreal forest terrain characterized by rolling hills, mature stands of jack pine, spruce, and aspen, and numerous clear, cold lakes. The park is part of the larger Cub Hills region and sits within the Boreal Shield ecozone, supporting a variety of wildlife such as moose, black bears, wolves, loons, and trumpeter swans. Established in 1934, the park has become a favored destination for outdoor recreation due to its rich natural environment and relatively pristine conditions. Visitors are drawn to its well-maintained hiking and mountain biking trails, canoeing and kayaking opportunities on lakes like Richardson and Ispuchaw, and excellent fishing for species such as northern pike, walleye, and lake trout. The historical significance of the area includes remnants of early forestry management and recreational development by the provincial government in the early 20th century. Campgrounds with various levels of amenities provide access to the park’s scenic lakes and forested settings. Birdwatchers and nature photographers find ample opportunities here, especially near wetlands and lake shores. Winters see visitors enjoying snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. The park’s combination of wilderness experience and accessible facilities makes it an attractive destination year-round.
